ABOUT US

Dear Friends,
I am glad to report you about Asha Girls hostel. Initial preparations for Asha reminded me of one story of Nehemiah (from Bible) who was commanded by God to build the walls. He did face many challenges yet he found strength in his God. Likewise, covid 19 pandemic posed many challenges yet, Thank God we could start the hostel in the midst of the pandemic. Asha campus is situated 300 km away from Delhi in village Sahauran (Chandigarh, Punjab) India. This place is surrounded by many schools, colleges and two private universities. This is an educational hub for nearby states. Asha campus is a pollution
free, green and gated campus. People here are involved in Agriculture and small scale industries. They speak Punjabi language and comes from Sikh community. We were able to inaugurate Asha Girls Hostel on 13th of February 2021. ASHA means HOPE. Asha is giving hope to 21 girls and their families for a better and brighter future. Girls have been provided healthy atmosphere. They are being educated, nurtured and prepared to face life with respect and dignity. INFORMATION, ENROLLMENT AND TARGET GROUP There are 21 girl children enrolled at present at Asha hostel. We have one orphan girl, 2 semi orphan girls, 4 girls from broken families. Most of the children comes from very poor families, sick parents, sexually abused and backward background where the children do not get proper atmosphere for their development. In the hostel we have 14 Christian children and 7 girls from other faith (Hindu). As the Holy Bible says that, “Children are a gift from God; they are a real blessing”. Psalm 127:3. With faith we are trying our level best to provide a home away from home for their proper growth. Our aim is to provide the children with tender and loving care so that they may grow in a healthy atmosphere.

Our aim is to educate these children who are not having basic facilities and sources to get education. Our hostel staff keep close contact with the school teachers to know the academic performance of their children. After regular school time our staff supervise their studies and help them with their homework. I am glad to inform that they have learnt a new language, Punjabi and they did learn to read and write within 45 days. Four children were school drop outs, rest of the children were not able to continue their studies due to covid 19 pandemic. They were tutored in the hostel to curve their knowledge gap. They are re enrolled to schools and are able to cope with their classmates.
Here is a Grade wise breakdown of the children:
